Like every other NFL game Sunday, there will be a lot of focus on how both the Raiders and Washington conduct themselves during the playing of the national anthem. The Raiders starting offensive linemen plan a show of unity during the anthem.
Once the game gets going, many eyes will be on Derek Carr and the explosive Raiders offense, which scored a league-best 71 points during the first two weeks. Carr threw for 230 yards and three touchdowns in the Raiders’ 45-20 victory last Sunday over the Jets.
Washington’s offense poses a good test for the Raiders’ defense, which has played surprisingly well to help Oakland open the season 2-0 for the first time in 15 years. Kirk Cousins, long rumored to be the 49ers’ top quarterback target for next season, threw a game-winning TD pass with 1:49 left against the Rams last Sunday. Cousins, though, hasn’t been overly sharp and will likely be missing two key offensive weapons Sunday night — RB Rob Kelley (rib) is out and tight end Jordan Reed (ribs) hasn’t practiced and is a game-time decision.
